Welcome to Lindsey Point, Connecticut: suspicious of outsiders, loyal to tradition, and absolutely devoted to its local legends.
Enter
Sophie Smithwaite, travel show host, in town to film an episode about
Lindsey Point’s haunted lighthouse. But digging into the story of a
tragic murder-suicide and love gone wrong reveals startling connections
to Sophie’s own past. When a gorgeous local handyman fills in behind the
camera, Sophie’s life gets complicated by more than just her family
history.
Part-time paramedic, handyman, seasonal Santa... Lucas
Oakes does it all--except get attached. He’s still reeling from the
death of his best friend ten years ago and the more recent infidelity of
his ex-fiancee. Yet despite Sophie’s big-city nosiness and her
insistence on chasing long-dead ghosts, he’s drawn to her.
But
mixing with an outsider means questioning people and traditions Lucas
has always defended. When a series of attacks seem to be connected to
Sophie’s investigation, both Sophie and Lucas must decide if they are
willing to risk everything to uncover the town’s secrets...and their
own.
CONTENT WARNING: Contains one barb-slinging travel show
host, one hunky handyman who knows exactly how to use his tools, and a
small town brimming with secrets ..
About The Author:
Allie was born and raised in a
very small town in upstate New York, which probably explains her
fascination with the magic of small town life.
She earned her
B.A. in English, with a minor in Education, from the University of
Rochester in New York and then moved to Case Western Reserve University
in Cleveland, Ohio, where she earned her M.A. in English Literature.
Since
1997, Allie has enjoyed life in the northern NYC suburbs, where she
lives with her husband and teaches English and Education full-time to
high school students.
She loves hearing from readers and is busy at work on her next novel. Happy reading!
From My Perspective:
A romantic mystery is what we encounter when we open the pages of Beacon of Love. I love a good mystery and I am starting to like romance a lot more than I thought I could. This is one I will definitely recommend to my mother, although she doesn't care for mystery as much as I do. But she loves a good romance story, so I'm sure she enjoy this book. Allie's characters, Sophie and Lucas are both strong protagonists and get under each other's skin immediately. They both feel the physical attraction pulling them to one another without much relief. Sophie has a proclivity to follow her journalism instincts and follow her resulting nosiness into places that could get her hurt or worse. Lucas fortunately is always helping those in need and becomes like a knight in shining armour, rescuing Sophie from herself and other dangers. She is feisty and he is solemn and afraid to entangle himself other than yielding to his physical desires. Both would love a happily ever after. The storyline was creative, a fifty year old murder of who done its, chalked up to murder suicide, a baby found on the beach afterward, a hidden treasure, and a community hiding secrets and hoping the journalist doesn't stay in town too long....for her own good. Lots of twists and turns and very entertaining! Read it, loved it, blogged it! 4WINKS!!

I'm glad you liked "Beacon of Love." I actually think mystery and romance make for an interesting read in most of the books that I've read up to date. Thanks for the review! I'm definitely going to have to check this one out. (:
