  • Weekly question:

Q: What is a deal breaker for you in a book? For example, do you abhor love triangles? Or can’t deal with bad editing?

A:  I don't like insta love(unbelievable).  I don't like love triangles(stressful) and I really loose it when the main character is always too stubborn for their own good (hard to be empathetic).   I can overlook bad editing in an ARC copy, but not in a finished product.

Ohhh how I agree!

I can do insta-love and love triangles - if they make sense, but love triangles tend to never do..at least not to me. I've always been a one-guy kinda girl.

Bad editing in a final book though, grr!

I don't like an overly stubborn lead character either, when they are they often become my least favorite. Thanks for the follow from Random Thoughts and Weirdness!

All of those can be annoying, but none of them are absolute deal breakers for me.

I have a hard time with insta-love too, unless it's done really well. Maybe I'm a cynic or something, but I feel like it's done way too often in way too many books. Bad editing and bad grammar drive me nuts too!

Thanks for stopping by The Book Asylum! I'm a new follower via GFC. Happy Friday!

I find love triangles stressful too. I'm not a fan of them either. I'm good with insta-like (had that w/ my hubbie), but insta-love can be handled very poorly.

Thanks for stopping by :)
I agree on your deal breakers. Insta love makes me feel itchy and I can't deal with love triangles (Twilight sort of ruined that for me).
New follower! Happy Friday! :)

I love hearing all this stuff from people because some of it I totally agree with, but others, like the triangle, I never thought of. Maybe because I haven't read enough of those yet.

Old Follow via GFC - Old follow Linky too!

Good point, but I enjoy destiny and instant love if properly written.

I generally overlook bad editing in an ARC, too, and in indie novels. At least until it becomes so distracting that I want to throw the book at a wall. ;) I'm also not a fan of insta-love or love triangles, they're rather cliche. And I really dislike characters that don't decide on one guy, then waiver over to the other guy and so on and so forth. Learn to recognize what you want!!! ;)

Thanks for stopping by my thread. I've followed you back.
