 Weekly Question:

Q: What hyped up book do you think was not worth all the talk?

My answer:   I Don't read books because of the hype.  So I can't answer this.  I read a book by the blurb or synopsis and if it fits my interest;  though with doing book tours I may run into a book that slips by my personal parameters on occasion.

Good choice. I hardly read popular books too.

You're lucky if you haven't been utterly disappointed by the overhyped books!

Good for you, not paying attention to hype. I'm guilty of reading a book because of the hype, specifically because I want to know what all the hype is about. :D New Follower via GFC. Follow me back at Musings on Fantasia and LKHill.

As far as hype, most people don't read a book just because it's all hyped up, but some hyped books sound good...so you read it. And if all my friends are loving on it -- well I should like it right? That is what happened with FSOG -- all my friends were raving about how I should read this. Unfortunately they lie lie lie...Thanks for hopping! XOXO - Parajunkee

Thanks for stopping by my post! I am a new follower :) You have good system for picking books! I wish we could judge books by their covers (it would make things easier).

I don't always read a book based on hype, I mean, I do read the synopsis and stuff too but I usually find out about these books through the hype and you know, it's not my fault it has lots of hype. I do get where you're coming from though, save yourself the disappointment but for me most of the time the hyped up books usually are pretty good, most of the time.
Thanks for stopping by my blog! Followed you back :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Glad you are able to ignore hype. I tend to get caught up in the hype. Fortunately for me, I tend to like them!

I'm following you GFC!

Hi Beth! Nice response. Ignoring the hype probably leads to less disappointment.

This is a great response. I try not to let hype influence me, but sometimes my curiosity wins out...but I refuse to read something like FSoG. LOL.

Nice response. I find it hard to avoid the hype. I generally read it unless I really hate the synopsis.

I DO read books if I hear they're popular, but only after the hype has died down or the book has been out for a long time.

That's a good philosophy to follow. I usually never know if a book is hyped up or not. Like when I read Twilight I didn't even know it was popular at the time. It's good not to pay attention to hype and form your own opinion. Happy Reading, thank you for following. I am now following you! 8)

Hi Beth, thanks for stopping by my blog. Following you back via GFC. :)

Hype can brings books to your attention that you may not have heard of otherwise, but I agree that the storyline/idea should grab you before you pick it up. I've read some great books that I heard about through their hype, but there is always the occasional dud in the mix.

I can't resist the "hype." Usually I am not disappointed -- books are hyped for a reason. I do have to be careful it's a genre I enjoy (but I'm very eclectic, so that isn't much of a problem.) Thanks for stopping by. New follower via RSS

Thanks for dropping by earlier, followed back ^^,

I on the other hand tend to read books just because of the hype though it's smart to just ignore them actually like what you do. :)

I agree with Parajunkee's comment... you may not read books because of the hype, but surely you've read hyped books... so I'd love to hear about something you read that you just didn't think was that amazing.

i probably have read books that are hyped, but if I don't like the synopsis of said hyped book, I don't read it. Believe me there have been books I selected to read because of the synopsis and due to writer style or whatever, Still was disappointed with. I don't escape disappointment but I can't say it's the fault of the hype. I know that we each have our own taste in books and my TBR pile may contain one of these hyped books. I'm sure I'll read one. Thanks one and all for commenting
